Keyboarding
This is a one-semester course designed to help students develop speed and accuracy by learning the touch operation of alphanumeric/keyboard characters. Emphasis is placed on the following: mastery of the keyboard with desirable keyboarding techniques; development of speed and accuracy; and proper care of the equipment. Keyboarding is the foundation for developing entry-level skills for business (and many other) careers.
Students will utilize MicroType, Microsoft Word, and a variety of websites in this class. Students will be evaluated based on technique (posture, placement of hands, striking motions, positioning in front of keyboard), completion of assigned work, quality of work, understanding of vocabulary, speed and accuracy.
During the first week we covered basic rules 1) for classroom conduct 2) about proper posture and technique when using the keyboard/computer, created "wordless" about ourselves, tried to fill in a blank keyboard, discussed the computer and its basic components and started our first lessons. (Lessons 15 & 16)

We will start using TYPING WEB (typingweb.com) this week in addition to Microsoft Word. Each student will have a log-in id that ties them to my class and they can utilize typing web anywhere that they have computer/internet access and I will be able to use their work in the grading process as long as they log in to work.
